Name: Liz Meyers
Age: 27
Location:  Scottsdale AZ, but my heart will always be in Austin TX

What was your first job out of college and how did you land that position? I was working with a start up non-profit Both EndS Burning striving to fix the broken system of International Adoption.

The summer after my freshman year of college I moved home and ran a kids summer camp. That’s where I met a family that had adopted three children from Haiti and were currently running an orphanage there. Their story fascinated me; I spent the next two years studying International Adoption and by my senior year was on staff full time launching the Both Ends Burning Campaign.

I had the privilege of traveling with them internationally and filming the STUCK Documentary.

Fun Fact: I am a college football addict.

Mantra: Iron sharpens Iron

If you could have lunch with any woman, who would it be and why? Hands down Oprah, I feel like she is a true testament to overcoming, specifically for women of her generation and race. I would love to sit down and have a conversation and get any wisdom she could speak.

What inspired you to create Shiki ? Aside from needing a creative outlet, my Shiki partner in crime Whitney. But really overall a genuine love for pretty things: parties, home décor, fashion, being unique… and Shiki encompasses all of those things.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? I see myself hopefully brining home our first child from Haiti, taking that photography class I’ve always wanted to (see above) and for Shiki to be a recognizable brand for all people who enjoy the pretty details of life as much as I do.

What was your first job out of college and how did you land that position? My college internship with Michael Antonio footwear turned into a fulltime position after graduation. I was offered a role in the Brand Management department where I did everything from planning pop-up stores and trade show logistics to getting our products featured in magazines and on celebrities.

Fun Fact: My not so secret ambition growing up was to be a rapper….does that count?

Mantra: God gave everyone a microphone…use it

If you could have lunch with any woman, who would it be and why? It would be a toss up between any former Miss America and Laura Ingalls Wilder. Obviously, there is a stark difference between the two, but growing up the Miss America organization and the values I learned from excessively reading  Little House on the Prairie books helped shape me into the woman I am today.

One class I wish I had taken: Graphic Design

What is your go-to coffee order? Dirty Chai Latte in the winter and in the summer, a Trenta Iced Green Tea with no water and 3 pumps of sweetener

What inspired you to create Shiki ? I feel like I incorporate creativity into every aspect of my life and you spend such a large portion of your life working I figured why not turn my passion into a profession that inspires others to tap into their creative side.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? I definitely see myself being a mom, having convinced my husband to either move to California or next door to Liz and for Shiki to be a thriving go to place for all that want their parties to be unique and personalized.
